SAVE THE DATES: IDD ON THE BIG SCREEN

The Heart of Texas Behavioral Health Network is honored to partner with the Deep In The Heart Film Festival organizers to encourage people to view two documentaries that will bring Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) onto the movie screens of the Waco Hippodrome.

There will be two documentaries that will showcase the importance of community engagement for the IDD consumers HOTBHN’s Center for Developmental Services serves:

  • Thursday, July 21: “In The Spotlight” at the Waco Hippodrome downstairs theatre, 8 p.m.
  • Friday, July 22: “You Have No Idea” at the Waco Hippodrome upstairs theatre, 5:30 p.m.

HOTBHN recognizes these two films as part of a larger conversation centering on the IDD population we serve.

“Community engagement and support resources for the people we serve aren’t just getting them out to experience community life and finding those paid supports to help along the way,” says Carey Amthor, Director of HOTBHN’s Center for Developmental Services. “Helping people be a part of the community is about finding ways to get people interested in facilitating access to engagement naturally and being active participants.”

Amthor stressed that HOTBHN serves over 1,000 IDD consumers in our six-county services area of McLennan, Limestone, Bosque, Falls, Hill, and Freestone Counties of Central Texas.
