COVID-19 Mental Health Support Extended Into 2023
WACO, TX – Free and anonymous COVID-19 mental health support will continue to be available into 2023, with the extension of the State COVID-19 Mental Health Support Phone Line call center.
Chance Freeman, Texas Health and Human Services Director of Disaster Response, says the toll-free number, (833) 986-1919, will continue to be available through August 31, 2023.
The support line was originally scheduled to terminate on August 31, 2022.
“This is good news for our consumers who continue to be affected directly or indirectly by the pandemic, especially now that positive cases are on the rise once again,” said Vince Erickson, the Heart of Texas Behavioral Network’s Project Manager for #TexansRecoveringTogether Crisis Counseling Program. “We were honored to have provided almost 37,000 free and anonymous primary mental health support services the people of our six-county region during our grant, which ended on January 30, 2022. The extension of the State COVID Mental Health Support line will help continue that work for the people of our region and our great state as well.”
The State COVID Mental Health Support Line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Callers can also text COVID to 832-479-2135.
